      The Georgia Straight presents New York City Gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello touring in support of latest release Pura Vida Conspiracy at the Commodore Ballroom.

      Toronto psychobilly band the Matadors, with guests Butch Haller and Devil in the Wood Shack, hit the Astoria Pub.

      Canadian folk group the Barra MacNeils performs on its annual Christmas concert tour at St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church.

      Mystery writers Dietrich Kalteis, Linda L. Richards, and Sam Wiebe discuss their latest work at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.

      Celebrate the Vancouver launch of The Adventures of Drippy the Newsboy Volume II: The Red Drip of Courage at Pulp Fiction.

       

      MUSIC

      As part of UBC StringFest, the UBC Centennial String Quartet performs the world premiere of Adam Hill's A Springboard Not a Tombstone at the Telus Studio Theatre.

      Bramwell Tovey and Graeme Langager lead soprano Nathalie Paulin, baritone David John Pike, the Phoenix Chamber Choir, the UBC University Singers, and the VSO in a performance of works by Stravinsky, Haydn, and Fauré. Held at the Orpheum Theatre.

       

      THEATRE

      Donna Spencer directs playwright Trish Cooper's Social Studies, which opens at the Firehall Arts Centre.
