      The 32nd annual Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards takes place at the Commodore Ballroom (868 Granville Street) on Monday (June 23) at 6:30 p.m.

      The awards, directed and produced by Vancouver TheatreSports, recognize outstanding achievements made by Vancouver’s theatre community. Awards are divided into three categories: large theatre, small theatre, and theatre for young audiences. Awards are also presented for special achievements.

      This year, nine theatre companies were nominated in the large-theatre category, including Bard on the Beach, the Arts Club Theatre, Patrick Street Productions, and Pacific Theatre.   

      In the small-theatre category, 22 productions were nominated, including Itsazoo Productions’ Killer Joe and Realwheels Theatre’s Whose Life Is It Anyway.
