If you were inspired by the Vancouver Pride festivities or the show of support to counter discrimination at the rally at Vancouver City Hall on August 19, here's a tasty way to support a B.C. queer resource centre that helps and advocates for LGBT people.

This year, Qmunity's 7th annual Stack the Rack fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. on October 4 at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia (801 West Georgia Street).

This wine-tasting gala event, hosted by the ever-entertaining Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, will feature local and international wines, canapés, a silent auction, a raffle, and live performances.

Some of the wines that will be participating include Ursa Major, Desert Hills, Howling Bluff, Blaster Church, and the View.

A total of 80 advance tickets are available for $100 until midnight on August 27. Thereafter, tickets will increase to early-bird prices ($125), starting on August 28; regular prices ($150), on September 11; and rush prices ($175), on October 1. Donations can also be made online until October 8.

In May at Qmunity's annual International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia breakfast fundraiser, Mayor Gregor Robertson announced that new premises were finally secured for the LGBT community resource centre, which had long outgrown its aging and outdated facilities at 1170 Bute Street and had searched for a new spot for decades.

The new space will be located on the northeast corner of Burrard and Davie streets but it won't be ready for another three to five years.
