Back to the Grind: North Vancouver's Grouse Grind reopens after weeks of maintenance work

The North Vancouver hiking trail that outdoor and exercise enthusiasts use as an intense workout is open once again after weeks of repair. The trail opens at 6:15 a.m. and the last entry is permitted at 7:30 p.m.

The Grouse Grind had closed on May 22 for seasonal trail safety maintenance, which included step repair, safety-net replacements, tree removal, and more.

The approximately 2.5-kilometre trail, which is anticipated to have 500,000 visits this year, is rated as difficult due to its extremely steep incline without any flat sections, and requires good physical health.

Hikers are advised to expect cooler temperatures at higher elevations, bring a headlamp or flashlight (in anticipation of early onset of darkness within the forest), and to schedule enough time to finish the hike.

For more information about the trail, including how to prepare, visit the Metro Vancouver website or check out this article.
