Anyone who has witnessed Aurora Borealis can attest to the magic of the otherworldly experience, as purple, green and pink ribbons of light dance across inky skies.

Now, there are new ways to experience the Northern Lights aside from bundling up and standing outside in a dark field in some cold northern clime.

The Aurora | 360 Experience gives people the chance to take in the light show from the comfort of a private chartered 737 jet.

It's the only flight in the world to take off within the Aurora Oval, offering the chance for viewing shortly after take-off for the three- to three-and-a-half-hour flight.

Once on board, people can sip gin from the Yukon Brewing company and ask Canadian Aurora photographer Neil Zeller how to best capture the natural fireworks on their own cameras.

Offered by a company called Consulta Meta in partnership with Tourism Yukon, the Aurora | 360 Experience takes place February 7 to 11 2019, with the flight itself scheduled for February 8 or 9, depending on Aurora forecasts.

The package includes four nights accommodation in Whitehorse, three dinners, entry to Takhini Hot Springs, a guided tour of Yukon Wildlife Preserve, and cultural activities, as well as the chance to hear from guest speakers like William Murtagh (assistant director for Space Weather, Energy, and Environment Division of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy) and Pierre Paquette (Astronomy Ambassador of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada).

The full experience costs $2,939 per person.

The Aurora viewing flight only goes for $1,045.

Those looking to take in the spellbinding sights from the sea can book for fall 2019 voyages on a round-trip cruise called Arctic Sights and Northern Lights that travels from Iceland to East Greenland.

Departures are scheduled for September 6 to 16 and September 15 to 25 aboard the 54-suite Sea Spirit. The trip is offered by Poseideon Expedietions, which specializes in polar cruises. The ship crosses the Arctic trip to Scoresby Sund in East Greenland, which is home to towering glaciers and the largest and longest fjord system in the world.

Begin at $8,395 per person based on double occupancy, the trip includes a one-night pre-voyage stay in Reykjavik at the Grand Hotel, transfers and excursions, meals and deluxe accommodations onboard, a Poseidon Expeditions parka to take home, and more.
