Canada’s longest-operating department store is changing up its executive structure. Hudson’s Bay Company—which owns Hudson’s Bay (better known as The Bay), Home Outfitters, and Lord & Taylor—announced today (June 18) that Bonnie Brooks has stepped down from her role as president of the company.

Brooks, who became president of HBC in 2008, has been appointed vice chairman of the company, and Liz Rodbell will move into the role of president. Rodbell, who began her career at Lord & Taylor in 1985, has been executive vice president at HBC since February 2012.

“This new structure will continue to drive our long term growth strategy, as we build upon the Company's momentum toward revitalizing its banners and product offerings, and strengthening the customer experience,” Richard Baker, chairman and CEO of HBC, stated in a news release.

During her tenure as president, Brooks helped revamp the 343-year-old company by shifting its focus from home appliances and décor to designer fashion and top beauty brands. The Bay launched The Room, a section of high-end designer womenswear in Toronto in 2009, and opened a second location in downtown Vancouver in 2011. That same year, The Bay obtained the exclusive Canadian rights to selling men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories by British fast-fashion retailer Topshop.

In her new role, Brooks will act as an advisor to Baker and HBC’s board of directors. These company changes are expected to be finalized by the start of 2014.

Who cares the Bay stopped being relevant or of interest to most Canadians a long long time ago.

I bought a fridge from the Coquitlam Bay store---I returned it after not being satisfied with it's performance.
Another one came today and I can't close the door on it. I pointed this out to the men who delivered it and they made note on their receipt.
Meantime my food is spoiling because I have no fridge in which to put it---I explained this to the people at the Bay ---I got the complete "run-a-way" and finally after speaking to various sales people and getting absolutely no where with them , I gave up. I'm going to bill the Bay for my loss of various foods which gives me no satisfaction whatsoever as I am faced with this lot on my kitchen counter top until whoever comes to fix this fridge. I am hoping you can help me .
I will NEVER deal with the Bay for anything again. No wonder you are going the way of the dinosaurs.
