“Suits: LA” to shoot in Vancouver

They say Vancouver is the city that never plays itself, thanks to its multiple cameos in Hollywood films and national TV shows—dressed up to look like fictional fictional cities, or in some cases, a rainy and geographically appropriate Seattle.

And now our city is about to be the backdrop of yet another American city: Los Angeles.

Set to begin production at the end of next month is Suits: LA. Originally an American legal drama based in New York City, the new show reduxes the format in the style of the CSI or NCIS franchises, extending the brand to Los Angeles.

The show’s pilot will star Canadian actor Stephen Amell as its lead, portraying a former prosecutor from New York who gets a rebirth of sorts in LA.

The news drops as one-time actor on the original series, Meghan Markle, is currently visiting Vancouver for the one-year-to-go celebrations for her husband Prince Harry’s charitable event, the Invictus Games.

We’re placing bets on how far into the pilot it takes to hear the first “goddamn.”
