A self-described governance geek will be the voice of most Lower Mainland real-estate agents in the coming year.

Oakwyn Realty's Ashley Smith replaces Phil Moore, whose term has expired as president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.

Its territory includes Squamish, Whistler, and the Sunshine Coast but does not extend to North Delta, White Rock, Surrey, or Langley.

Once one of the youngest directors in the history of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, Smith becomes president during an extremely slow sales period.

Her organization represents 14,000 realtors and brokers.

“I look forward to representing my real estate colleagues and serving my professional association in this, our 100th year in business,” Smith said in a news release.
