After a shooting took place in Richmond last night, investigators are trying to determine if there are any links between that incident and a vehicle found on fire in Vancouver shortly thereafter.

Shortly before 10:20 p.m. on July 29, several calls were made to police about gunfire in the 6500 block of No. 3 Road in Richmond.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a 35-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses at the location reported seeing a two-door silver sedan driving by and someone inside the vehicle firing shots. The driver then fled from the area.

About one hour later, a vehicle was discovered ablaze in Vancouver.

Just after 11:20 p.m., Vancouver police received a report of a vehicle fire in the 2100 block of Newport avenue in Vancouver. The vehicle matched the description from witnesses of the Richmond shooting.

The Richmond Serious Crime Unit is working with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) to determine if there is any connection between the two incidents.

Any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage is asked to contact Richmond RCMP.
