Around 12:32 a.m. today (September 6), Surrey RCMP responded to a report about an altercation in the 1600 block of 160th Street.

Officers arrived to find an adult male victim inside a house who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite resuscitation attempts, he died from his injuries. No information was released about his age or identity.

Two male suspects were taken into custody, but no charges have been laid.

Surrey RCMP stated that the involved parties are known to each other and that there isn’t a risk to public safety.

As detectives gathered evidence, police shut down both north- and south-bound traffic on 160th Street between 16th Avenue and Alder Place.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) will be taking over the investigation while working with Surrey RCMP.

Surrey RCMP stated that no further information is being released about this case at this point and that any updates will be provided by IHIT.

This incident follows an afternoon shooting on September 3 in the 15900 block of 111th Avenue in the Fraser Heights area of Surrey.

Two men were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the victims, 35-year-old Thomas Gabriel Saul from New Westminster, is being deemed a risk to public safety by Surrey RCMP.
