High-risk sex offender Michael Wayne Carpenter was arrested in Vancouver for breaching the conditions of his parole.

Vancouver police had issued an alert on January 9 that the 46-year-old Carpenter would be living at a correctional halfway house in Vancouver.

He was serving a 10-year supervision order and was listed as a risk to female children, teenagers, and adults. He has convictions for three counts each of sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death.

Police announced today (February 2) that he was observed violating the conditions of his parole on February 1. Police would not specify which of the conditions he contravened. He was arrested without incident.

His supervision conditions state that he cannot be in the presence of any females who are 18 years or younger, cannot consume alcohol or drugs, cannot acquire or access any pornography or sexually explicit material, must report all relationships with women, cannot own any device that can access the internet, cannot go to Kamloops, and cannot enter any private residences (including hotels and vehicles).

In 2005, he was arrested for attacks on two female hotel workers in Kamloops.

A warrant for the suspension of his parole has been issued.
