Suspect charged with aggravated assault following police-involved shooting in Downtown Eastside
The B.C. Prosecution Service has laid one criminal charge against a man in hospital with injuries.
John Corey McKay, 52, faces a count of aggravated assault following an alleged attack on a Vancouver police officer.
It occurred around 8:30 a.m. on July 30 near the corner of East Hastings and Columbia streets.
According to police, a man with a weapon came up to a police car and struck one of the officers in the head through a window.
Police say they tried to subdue him with a taser before shots were fired.
McKay is scheduled to appear in court on August 3.
