The Georgia Straight presents the 2018 Vancouver International Dance Festival

      From March 1 to 24, the 2018 Vancouver International Dance Festival takes place at various Vancouver venues.

      Every year, the festival presents a diverse and dynamic roster of internationall celebrated artists and local favourites in three weeks of performances, workshops, and public-education initiatives.

      This year, dance fans can see performances by Shen Wei Dance Arts, Amber Funk Barton and the response, Dancers Dancing, EDAM, Goh Ballet, White Wave Dance Company, Ferenc Fehér, Lucie Grégoire Danse, the Biting School, Compaña de Danza Experimental de Lola Lince, and pataSola dance.

      In a press release, Vancouver International Dance Festival coproducer Barbara Bourget says that "dance as a primal human instinct transcends language, cultural norms, and international borders. It has the potential to communicate any aspect of the human experience".

      She goes on to say that "this year’s festival hopes to achieve this goal by bringing communities together though the presentation of innovative, thought-provoking, and breathtaking work of world class artists from the United States, Mexico, and Hungary, as well as trailblazing artists from Vancouver and Montreal."

      This year, the Vancouver International Dance Festival takes place at venues like the Vancouver Playhouse, the Roundhouse Performance Centre and Exhibition Hall, KW Production Studio, the Atrium at Woodward's, and the Scotiabank Dance Centre.
