Video: Huge explosion in Tianjin, China, rises high above nearby skyscrapers

A massive explosion has occurred in the Chinese coastal city of Tianjin, some two-hours’ drive east of Beijing.

According to CCTV, the blast occurred at a port operated by Tianjin Dongjiang Port Rui Hai International Logistics Co. Ltd. located in in the Tianjin Binhai New Development Zone.

The state-owned broadcaster noted that the facility routinely handles the transportation of hazardous materials.

So far as many as 100 people have reportedly taken to hospital. No deaths have been recorded, though that could change.

An explosion at a port two hours east of Beijing was captured by nearby residents in the city of Tianjin and uploaded to social media services such as Weibo and Twitter.

The explosion was captured on video by Tianjin residents. Those recordings and photographs show the blast reaching heights high above neighbouring skyscrapers.
