Times of India Film Awards 2013: Barfi!, Kahaani lead technical awards
While Barfi! led the winners at the popular choice awards presented at the inaugural Times of India Film Awards at BC Place on April 6, the Hindi hit also led the technical awards, which were presented at an invite-only, industry-oriented ceremony at the Vancouver Convention Centre on April 5.
The Anurag Basu romcom-drama, about a deaf and mute man named Barfi (played by Ranbir Kapoor) in a love triangle with Shruti (Ileana D'Cruz) and the autistic Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra), won four technical awards in visual and audio categories: best cinematography, best art direction, best costume design, and best background score.
But it was the thriller Kahaani, starring Vidya Balan, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, that won three awards on the strength of its content: best story, best screenplay, and best editing.
Meanwhile, Agneepath, Gangs of Wasseypur, Raaz 3, Ek Tha Tiger, and Taalash won one award each.
