It's a hot dog eat hot dog world

By Carolyn Ali,

The success of Japadog was bound to inspire other wiener creations. Now there’s Mexidog, on the southwest corner of Burrard and West Georgia streets. Entrepreneurs Jenny Newman and Marcelo Cavazos, who is originally from Monterrey, Mexico, top their dogs with all the Mexican sunshine Vancouver bylaws allow. The selection includes the all-beef Mexidog ($5.50), which comes with salsa, guacamole, and fried tortilla strips for crunch. The Cabo dog ($4.50) has chipotle mayonnaise and a mild carrot jalapeño coleslaw, in a tribute to Los Cabos–style fish tacos. Add heat with habanero sauce, hot peppers, and more.

I also noticed that Japadog has a couple of copy cat booths out at the Richmond Night Market. Definitely worth a try if you are out there this summer. I guess you can't stop a tasty idea from catching on.
