#GrammysSoWhite hashtag emerges after Beyoncé, Drake, and Rihanna snubbed in major categories

Beyoncé and Drake have made the music industry gazillions of dollars.

And sure enough, they were each awarded with two Grammys last night for their efforts.

But their wins were not in categories that grab the most attention and each is probably feeling shortchanged this morning by the Recording Academy.

So are many music fans, who have taken to Twitter with the hashtag #GrammysSoWhite.

They're also pissed that Rihanna didn't win any Grammys after being nominated in eight categories.

Going into last night's show, Beyoncé had the highest number of nominations, nine, including for the prestigious Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.

She took home Grammys for Best Music Video for "Formation" and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade, amounting to severe marginalization in the eyes of the Beyhive.

Beyoncé made a grand entrance on-stage at last night's Grammy Awards.

Adele, who beat Beyoncé in four categories, graciously said she couldn't accept the Grammy for Album of the Year for 25.

"The Lemonade album, Beyoncé, was so monumental, and so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-bearing," Adele told Beyoncé from the stage. "And we all got to see another side of you that you don't always let us see, and we appreciate that. And all us artists adore you. You are our light.

"And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves," Adele continued. "And I love you. I always have. And I always will."

Beyoncé had won 20 Grammys before last night's show.

Drake, on the other hand, had only won one Grammy after 27 nominations by the end of 2016.

He picked up another eight nominations this year, including for Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, Record of the Year, and Best R&B Song.

Drake didn't even bother showing up for last night's Grammy Awards.

Last night, he won his Grammys for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Sung Performance, both for "Hotline Bling".

No wonder he skipped the show. Which star of his magnitude wants to show up on TV screens around the world as a six-time loser?

Even though Beyoncé and Drake have Recording Academy trophies from last night, their losses in the biggest categories, not to mention the goose egg for Rihanna, has generated outrage over how black artists are treated at the Grammys.

Here's just a small portion of what people are saying on Twitter.
