Kate Winslet beats Meryl Streep for best actress Oscar

No doubt about it—it's Kate Winslet's year.

Winslet scooped up the best actress award, even though she was up against fifteen-time nominee Meryl Streep (Doubt).

The award was presented by five Oscar-winners, including Sophia Loren, Marion Cottiard, Halle Berry, and Nicole Kidman.

The win echoes her win at the Golden Globes for best actress. At the Oscars, she won for The Reader, whereas the Globes she won for The Reader and Revolutionary Road.

She also won at the Screen Actors Guild awards.
