Lines, lines, everywhere a line (except at Maison du Québec and the Candahar)

On Saturday and Sunday, a few friends and I took in some of the Olympic-related attractions around town—at least we tried to. Irish House, German Fan Fest, the zipline over Robson Street, Atlantic Canada House... Despite the crummy weather on Saturday, there were lots of lines.

On the other hand, parts of downtown were eerily quiet, including Davie Street and even parts of Granville Street. Robson Square, however, was packed.

In the end, we contented ourselves with wandering around, having coffee, and going out for dinner. But Sunday evening we had more success. While the Ontario pavilion had a big line, we were able to walk right into Maison du Québec. It was a little odd in that all there was was a stage and a café area with some TV screens, but we got to hear the band Malajube perform and thought they were pretty damn good.

We wandered through the night-market-style area at the Plaza of Nations and toward Yaletown, where we caught the Aquabus over to Granville Island (and got a decent view of the light show in the process).

The Atlantic Canada House line looked intense, so we headed for the Candahar, which was relaxing, amusing, and trippy at the same time. On the trek up to Broadway afterward, we saw the Olympic Line Bombardier streetcar pull up and decided to take it over to Cambie Street.

And the lines to get into GM Place for events? Even longer...
