Ziyian Kwan's personal performance protest against provincial arts cuts, called "what i am dancing Sundays", is drawing more participation.

Kwan, who dances every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. in front of the Gene Cafe (at Main and Kingsway), reports filmmaker Peg Campbell, EDAM artistic director Peter Bingham, and the Hard Rubber Orchestra's John Korsrud will join her on the sidewalk this Sunday (August 22), along with dancers Rob Kitsos and Delia Brett.

But she's expecting the biggest turnout for her final installment on August 29, with well-known local professional dancers like Alvin Tolentino, Susan Elliott, and Laura Hicks.

Kwan says she would continue her weekly installment of dancing/busking/protesting, in which she hands out flyers on the Liberal government's cuts to arts funding, but in a telling detail, she can't: she has to leave the province in September to find work as a dancer.
