Dick Cheney demonstration planned in Vancouver
The StopWar Coalition is inviting people to protest the visit of former U.S. vice president Dick Cheney on September 26.
The demonstration will take place at 5:30 p.m. outside the Vancouver Club at 915 West Hastings, where Cheney is scheduled to speak to the Vancouver-based Bon Mot Book Club.
The same group invited former U.S. Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin to speak about her book, Going Rogue, last November. In its notice, the StopWar Coalition described Cheney as a "war criminal and unrepentant torture and war advocate".
"Under international and Canadian law, Cheney should be banned from entering the country or arrested upon arrival," the group stated. "It is outrageous that the Harper government, which has on a number of occasions banned anti-war speakers and other social justice activists from entering Canada, would allow this war criminal to enter Canada to promote his new book."
This week, the Georgia Straight reported that the group Lawyers Against War wants Cheney banned from Canada or arrested if he enters the country.

All those Vancouver old boys with flaccid penises and hard rockets will lap up anything Cheney says. These are the same guys who bought their 18 year olds Lamborginis and told them to go out and flaunt it. They love Bush, Hannibal and even whisper sweet nothings about Hitler. The Dow is their Bible and Repugnicans tell the only truth. They don't even know who Jon Stewart is and would shoot Michael Moore on site. Vancouver's best gather at the 'Club'.

Shawn, you may be right. A protest is far too weak. The war criminal should be arrested, processed and tried. Time to make criminals like Cheney actually pay for their deeds.

Funny how these elitists speak of 911 as if they witnessed some catastrophic event, but don't realize some Iraq mother went through exactly the same thing. Go away. Don't want you here. The age of the dinosaur is moving into extinction...

The Dick Cheney said he has no regrets. If he could do it all over again he'd still invade the wrong country

Here's a so called excuse for a "man", who avoided the draft to go to Viet Nam, sent troops into Iraq with lies about weapons of mass destruction only to get the oil. What a repugnant excuse for a human being. I use the term "human being" in Cheney's case very, very loosely.

Ron you are a moron, you need to do more research before you post your nonsense. We were not there for the oil. The wells are iraqi controlled and iraqi owned.AMERICA don't own those wells. Cheny did not have the power to go to war, that can only be given by an act of congress. The whole mess was due to misinformation from the CIA which many democrats were led to belive it was true also. At that time congress was controlled by the democrats, who gave Bush the ok for the invasion. Use direct facts next time, and not what you hear from other liberals who know jack squat about politics.
