Dino Archie corrals comics for sixth annual Vancity Comedy Extravaganza

Getting creatives to commit to anything is like herding cats. So managing to wrangle a lineup of some of the funniest comedians from Vancouver and beyond is nothing short of impressive.

Dino Archie’s annual Vancity Comedy Extravaganza is back for another year, taking over the Vogue Theatre for its sixth edition of wintertime laughs.

Hosted by the Fresno-born, Vancouver-based comic himself, the self-proclaimed Drip Lord has spent the last year hustling. Since the last Vancity Comedy Extravaganza, Archie has put out an independently-produced stand-up special, and taken his You’re A Better Man Than Me tour on the road across North America.

The annual laughfest is his attempt to showcase the blossoming comedy scene in Lotusland.

“A lot of [Vancouver] comics get overlooked, but they are just as funny [as anybody],” Archie told us earlier this year. “I always felt like they needed to be seen by more people.”

Repping hometown pride alongside him on the lineup is Vancouver’s own Aidan DeSousa, a TikTok comedy sensation with over 110,000 followers and millions of views on the short-form video platform.

Calgary’s Brittany Lyseng is escaping the snow to also join the bill. Best-known for being part of CTV’s award-winning Roast Battle Canada and featured on CBC Gem’s The New Wave of Standup, the comic has released two live albums.

From further afield, they’re joined by Ari Matti, Estonia’s funniest export, who won Seattle's International Comedy Competition in 2021; Toronto’s no-holds-barred comedian and former Much regular Trixx; and Brent Morin, star of NBC’s The Undateables and the creatively titled Netflix stand-up special I’m Brent Morin.

And on the decks, DJ Icy Touch will be keeping the cool vibes running throughout the night.

It’s a comedy festival in one night—the perfect way to warm up a dreary January.
