The world-renowned National Ballet of Ukraine is embarking on a Canadian tour starting in January 2024.

Hitting multiple Canadian cities on a 21-show tour, the classical ballet company, which features an impressive 150 dancers, will grace Vancouver’s The Centre For Performing Arts from February 5 to 7. Celebrating traditional ballet and Ukranian culture, the show is fittingly titled Nadiya Ukraine; nadiya means “hope” in Ukraninan.

Ukraine is known to produce some of the world’s top classical ballet dancers, with exquisite technique and gentle artistry interwoven at the highest level. Prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the company staged 16 shows a month at the Taras Shevchenko National Opera House in Kyiv. Today, with the war still ravaging the country, the number of productions the company can produce is in constant flux.

For this Canadian revue, the company will be performing excerpts from some of the most famous classical ballets, including Don Quixote and Le Corsaire. Attending Nadiya Ukraine is a chance to witness masters at work while also supporting a country that continues to fight for its freedom.

Only together we will win.”
