Former Glowbal group co-owner Peter Girges forms RocksGlass Concepts, takes over Elixir Bistro

A former co-owner of Vancouver’s Glowbal Restaurant Group is starting up his own food-and-drink empire.

Peter Girges announced today (August 18) the launch of RocksGlass Concepts Ltd.

The company’s first order of business will be to take over the food-and-beverage operations at the Opus Hotel Vancouver, including the Elixir Bistro, Opus Bar, and Café O.

After Saturday's service (August 21), the Elixir will shut down for six days of renovations.

RocksGlass is also building two stand-alone restaurants, Chinois Restaurant and Pierre’s, which are slated to open this fall.

“The opportunity was there, and I knew it was now or never,” Girges said in a press release. “I have long wanted to re-define hospitality in Vancouver and I believe RocksGlass will achieve just that.”

The 31-year-old restaurateur sold his shares in the Glowbal group—which is run by president and owner Emad Yacoub—in 2008.

While at Glowbal, Girges helped build Coast, Italian Kitchen, Sanafir, Trattoria, Glowbal Grill, and Afterglow.

Former Glowbal general manager Anthony Pratt is part of the new company, which has “an extensive list of high-profile investors”, according to the release.
