The former boyfriend of Pamela Anderson has denied that he abused her.

This came days after the former Baywatch star and Playboy model alleged that soccer star Adil Rami was living a double life and hinted on Instagram that he was abusive.

The Marseille centre back then went on Instagram this weekend to state in French that he will not comment on details of his life with Anderson.

But he also stated that he had no choice but to respond to her comments.

"I want to tell you that these accusations of violence are completely false and I cannot let that go," Rami declared, before adding: "Those who know me know who I am and my values."

Anderson, who was born in the Vancouver Island community of Ladysmith, previously claimed on Instagram that more than two years of her life "have been a big lie".

She also maintained that she was "devastated" to find out that he had been living a double life.

"He used to joke about other players who had girlfriends down the street in apartments close to their wives," Anderson alleged. "He called those men monsters."

She tagged this post to the National Domestic Abuse Hotline's Instagram account.

Later, she released an email claiming that Rami "crushed" her hands and "threw her around" in a fight.

"How could I have helped so many people @ndvhofficial and not be wise enough or able to help myself?" Anderson wrote.

Rami, however, insisted that she raised this point as a way to harm him.

In the wake of Anderson's allegations, he lost his position as a role ambassador with the antiviolence group Solidarité Femmes.

"She knows that my commitment to the cause of violence against women is something that is really important to me," Rami stated.
