A new documentary highlights discussions around how we’re seen by society, our loved ones, and ourselves.

Local filmmaker Ali Grant’s new documentary Not Quite That shares the story of Vancouver-based queer entrepreneur Sarah White and her complex relationship with her body and how it’s perceived.

When White learns that she has a gene that makes her more vulnerable to getting breast cancer, she has to decide whether or not to get a double mastectomy as a preventative measure. The film follows her as she meets with family and community members to better understand her identity and its connection to her body.

The film, which sold out its run at DOXA last year, is now getting its premiere on June 13 through Telus Originals.
