Earthquake struck offshore west of northern tip of Vancouver Island on Sunday

      A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck offshore from the northern tip of Vancouver Island on December 3 at 7:51 p.m. (PST), according to Earthquakes Canada.

      The U.S. Geological Survey has listed the seismic event as a 4.2-magnitude quake.  

      The epicentre was located at a depth of 10 kilometres (6 miles), about 174 kilometres (108 miles) west of Port Hardy and 330 kilometres (205 miles) northwest of Tofino.
