A search for a missing Thai man in Abbotsford has ended in a tragic discovery.

On November 10, the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) announced that 36-year-old farm worker Ngamphon Khamkong was reported missing on November 8. He had been last seen on 2 a.m. on November 8 in Abbotsford.

He had been inadequately dressed for the weather conditions, and had left without his wallet and passport.

On December 25, officers were called to a rural property located in the 29700 block of Maclure Road where they located a male body in a pond, which was confirmed to be Khamkong.

According to an APD news release issued today (January 11), investigators have determined that foul play was not a factor in his death.
