If you had less than $1 million at the start of the pandemic for a detached home, your best bet then was the Fraser Valley.

The Fraser Valley market covers North Delta, Surrey, White Rock, Langley, Abbotsford, and Mission.

That would have been in March 2020, when the price of a typical single-family home there was $988,500.

And had you waited another year, your $1 million would have fallen short already.

In March 2021, the price of a typical detached home in the Fraser Valley increased to $1,237,900.

Homes have only gotten more expensive.

In March 2022, the benchmark price of a single-family home rose to $1,726,900.

In a report Monday (April 4), the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board noted that the new price represents a 39.5 percent increase compared to March 2021.

The FVREB also reported that detached homes stayed on the market in March for 12 days on average.

For the entire month of March, realtors in the Fraser Valley sold a total of 2,580 residential and commercial properties.

The number represents a decrease of 22.5 percent compared to March 2021, when the market set a new record of 3,329 residential and commercial sales.
