Horgan hears a "Who?": B.C. Premier John Horgan mistaken for U.S. university professor namesake

In a major news twist this week that was cause for much disappointment, British Columbia’s premier has revealed that he isn’t secretly a mild-mannered psychology professor in Atlanta, Georgia, in disguise.

At a news conference on February 18, Premier John Horgan clarified that he is not in fact the same person as Prof. John Horgan at Georgia State University.

Horgan said that the professor at that U.S. university has been receiving numerous tweets about B.C. issues.

CTV News reported that the professor told them that he has been tagged in Twitter threads for many years about issues such as Site C or about the UBC SkyTrain extension.

TransLink has yet to confirm if the SkyTrain will in fact be extended beyond UBC all the way to Georgia State University in Atlanta.

"At the risk of stereotyping Canadians, the tone is always constructive and heartfelt. I never get annoyed,” Prof. Horgan told CTV News.

It remains to be seen what Prof. Horgan thinks of how Vancouverites respond to losing hockey games.

Meanwhile, for no other reason than simply being a Canadian, Horgan sent a handwritten apology to the professor.

According to his bio on his profile, all of Prof. Horgan’s views are his own (and therefore not Premier Horgan’s).

At the news conference, Premier Horgan expressed admiration for Prof. Horgan’s employment of a Jedi mind trick (in convincing people that he is not the Horgan they are looking for). There’s no word yet if the technique was successful on conspiracy theorists.

In related news, the Georgia Straight has yet to confirm if it has any connections to the U.S. state of Georgia. Or straight people.
