Get a sweet lump of coal from Chocolate Arts in your stocking this year

When I was a kid, I would get a lump of coal in my Christmas stocking to remind me that I wasn’t always an angel—a family joke that was accompanied by chocolates, a mandarin orange, and other gifts. The “coal” was actually a barbecue briquette, but these days there’s an edible option available at Chocolate Arts (1620 West 3rd Avenue).

In a package clearly labelled Lump of Coal, the 30-gram sweet gets the message across with a rough round of cocoa-dusted hazelnut milk chocolate mottled with organic rice crisps. Each lump goes for $2.95—and it’s considerably more tasty than the alternative.
