George Lucas to open art museum

Now that Star Wars creator George Lucas will no longer be involved with the franchise (following a successful sale to Disney), he has announced his intention of opening an art museum.

Lucas recently told CBS This Morning that “[It's] the idea of being able to paint your fantasies which is what Star Wars was. Star Wars was there to inspire young people to imagine things, to imagine going anywhere in the universe and doing anything you want to do and using your imagination to entertain yourself.”

A longtime fan of Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parish, Lucas will look to build his new venture in San Francisco and stock it with works of art from his private collection.
