Juat FYI, it's the same horn you use to scare cyclist and pedestrians.
Also, it activates only when you press TWICE, even though your car is locked after the first press. If you don't want to hear it and still want to double-check pull the handle of a door.
You're welcome.

my car beeps at one press not 2. I rarely use it as it's annoying. I don't know why people don't just press the door lock as it locks all the doors & is QUIET

It’s not for me. It’s for when I’m walking by or sitting near a vehicle that honks and scares the shit out of me for absolutely no reason.

Cars should be required to have a different sound for these types of things instead of the sound that everyone associates with danger? It would be really good for the blood pressure of every cyclist who bikes by a person nonchalantly parking their car!

If it’s a nice car, like a German luxury one, it can be changed in your onboard settings. Just tick ‘no sound’ for remote locking... if it’s a cheaper car, you may just be stuck w it

Owners manual.

There should be a section in your owners manual to turn this off - my 2006 truck has an option to program in no more honking when locked with the key fob.

Why to display ownership. What else?
