living in bc

I must confess. I had always thought about moving to BC. Now that I'm here, I confess, I don't like it here at all. I've never in my life have seen such traffic congestion; such terrible, risky, unskilled drivers possessing such rude, aggressive, and careless driving skills and reckless driving patterns. It has me wonder that BC is reported to have the highest insurance rates in Canada ( or is the entire North American continent?). Then theres the ICBC auto insurance monopoly imprisoning drivers with higher and higher, to the sky, prohibitively high insurance rates within this province. (Why are BC residents not demanding a change in BC's insurance regulations)? The prohibitively high cost within the rental market along with one of the lowest rental rates around convinces me in confessing, I'm only going to stay short term here. I must confess, I am not liking it here at all only insofar as the aforementioned reasons. Other than that, I have nothing but positives to speak of the people I work with and my neighbors too! Coming from a smaller city elsewhere, I sure as heck miss it. Jobs back home? Nope. Traffic congestion? Nope. Never even seen it before till now. Jobs here (Lower Mainland)? Yup. It's a job seekers market. I confess: I don't like it here at all.

I’m born and raised here and even I’m leaving this shit hole. I can’t wait until June when I move to a real city with decent rent. I drove 16 blocks and almost got hit and watch moronic drive doing u turns while was trying to drive straight along the road. Saturday= shitty drivers!

Then leave

Iice lived here all my life. This place has changed in the last 10 to 15 years, and not for the better, IMO. Much more people, Condos everywhere, traffic is worse..

If it wasn't for the fact that I have a good job here, is move somewhere quieter in a heart beat.

I feel your pain

The French have taken to the streets and are turning over cars in protest over the rising cost of living. Why are the people in Vancouver such passive whipped cowards? Raise some hell. Lets take our city back.

I grew up here...

.... and it is bull shit by comparison with even a decade ago. I remain because I have family who refuse to move, who also need to be near a major hospital.

If you were an old timer like me, you'd remember how the insurance corporations were about as competitive as the oil companies. I think the applicable term in today's terminology would be "price fixing".

Vancouverites are spineless and complacent. Nothing will change.
