Sorry retailers

Won’t be buying anything below the ribcage for the next long while. No new shoes, belts, pants, skirts, boots, purses or fancy tights. All Zoom requires now is a presentable head and shoulders. So yes to a decent shirt and blush, and that’s it. Money in the bank.

I hope you don't use Zoom for free....because it's not safe. It's open for others to view.

I'm the opposite

the amount of pandemic inspired clothing I have found, from Dr. Henry shirts for food banks, to Vans footing the bill show for Vancouver's Anti Social, to the Critter Care clothing line that just came out...the amount of items that are being created by companies struggling or charities looking for cash have completely stocked my cupboards and shoe racks.

I join video chats with audio only so I don't get dressed at all! I went like 4 days in my pajamas!

Are you young?

Because most women past their 20s (maybe up ti mid 30s to be fair) are going to feel they need more than blush.
If you've been blessed with lush eye lashes & brows, you're a lucky bitch! =p
And if you have eyes that don't need eyeliner and skin that doesn't need concealer you must be a beauty.

No woman of any age "needs" cosmetics.
The older I get the less makeup I wear. It's the young insecure women that wear the most makeup.

How about every woman does whatever they want with their face (regardless of age or features) and everyone wins?

I wrote the Are You Young

and I'm a middle-aged woman who rarely wears makeup, but I know that I look better with it (especially concealer or mascara for my thin lashes) and most of my friends will admit that as we get older, a little bit really helps.
So I'm not a young insecure women, but neither am I an insecure older one.
I agree with the 2nd Are you young that every woman does whatever they want their face. Totally. Agree!
No makeup, tons of makeup, weird makeup, etc!
My point was just that some of us feel like we look a lil less "sleep-deprived, stressed, etc" when we add a bit of makeup.

Had no idea my mention of blush would hit a nerve with some people.
Alls I’m saying is that to not look like a vertical corpse on Zoom, blush helps me a LOT.

Wear makeup, especially for work

Yes, that's money in the bank. Also, consideration and respect.
The data is in, and the conclusion is clear: women who wear makeup get promoted and paid more, and are treated better. Even outside work. Especially by other women.
My partner hates makeup, too, but wears it out of the house. Because benefits.
The halo effect is real. Sh*tty but unavoidable.

Careful there. Not everyone is playing the gamified version of life that you describe.

The blind belief in messages such as “makeup is a sign of consideration and respect” means fat pockets for corporate beauty machines such as Sephora and a reinforcement of double standards that really do not benefit women at all.
