oops there it is

On my way to work this morning, I tripped a bit on an uneven piece of sidewalk. I caught myself and immediately laughed out loud which was super weird b/c normally I'd cringe with embarrassment. I registered how different that was for me. A man standing just ahead of me to my right, had noticed me stumble and laugh and as I past him, he too had a big smile on his face "I've done that too" he said. "Those things just come outta no where eh?" I said back, smiling. I kept walking and a security guard about 20 feet along had seen it as well as my interaction with the first guy. "Have a good day!" he said with a big smile. "You too!" as I kept walking. I gotta stumble more often. And loosen up. And not take life so seriously. It was so spontaneous and fun how 3 strangers in our own orbit shared a lighthearted connection for a moment.

I've tried to make comments about things while people are around but no one bites. Most of them just look at me and give me the stunned look. Others simply ignore anything that is happening around them. If I could...I would like to scream. I really miss how people used to talk to each other before. Or when speaking to someone on the street wasn't perceived as an attack. Here I go....AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.

I’ve had my fair share of stumbles (even hit my head once), and it’s amazing how people respond in a much kinder way because we are all human and trip on our feet.

I have noticed that as well. I often walk past a senior's living centre and I always say hello to the elderly folk taking a walk there as I go by. It always brightens their day and sometimes they want to chat briefly. But whenever I have made a pleasant passing comment around anyone 40 or younger, I get a death-stare. It is considered a micro-aggression to participate in community now. Best to zip it and just do your shopping.

Huh

Just yesterday I was hiking and getting pissed off about how many times this happened, especially on roots. While walking in town, it's always the uneven sidewalks. I even thought of posting and asking if this is normal! Your post made me feel better too.

The ability to laugh at oneself is super important in life. I’m also one of those people who randomly talks to total strangers, but I’m old so mostly I assume I’m just a crazy old person lol. People really need to lighten up!

Oops. I’m the Op of it. What I meant to say is that I think people assume that I’m just a crazy old person. But being old, I really don’t care what anyone thinks!

People like @love it should get out more. You're not the OP and I'm not old. You do sound crazy though. Crazy enough to impersonate someone else. But then, like you said, you really don't care. Clearly.

I think @love it was correcting/clarifying their comment above, not saying they are the OP of the post.
