Coming out of the fog

Has anyone here ever come out of a very thick, long-lasting fog of gaslighting? I simultaneously feel very free and relieved to have my mind back but also baffled at how anyone could put someone through such turmoil. In addition, feeling disappointed in the mental health professionals I connected with that were no help at all. People aren't trained to understand this stuff, or are willfully ignorant of the risk they place on a survivor's wellbeing by insisting that the problem originates inside of them.

Check the movie 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' staring Jack Nicholson. It exposes the still dominent Freudian / Fraudian dominance of psychiatry and counselling exposed in the Cuckoo's Nest movie. And unfortunately many of the 'New Agey' mental health workers are still sadly stuck on the Fraudian foundation. Suggest you net-search Carl Jung. He started as Freud's partner but split off from Fraud and travelled to N. India where he opened his eyes and heart to reality. As well suggest you net search Dr. Gabor Mate MD who is based in Vancouver and is now helping million of peoples around the World.

For me it took the majority of my lifetime to realize what had happened to me. But when that fog finally lifted it was blinding. I found the right therapist who helped me understand that it wasn’t my fault what happened when I was a child, and how that experience set me up for all of the other ones that further cemented the same faulty thinking. Hopefully you will be able to connect with a therapist who understands, because that can be life changing. Good luck to you.

Sorry chump, the doctors were correct. It's you but you're ego is so huge you think it couldn't possibly be.

In fact, you're sick.

Was married to a gaslighter for four years. I'm a professional in a helping profession and a responsible person - but I was left feeling that I was going crazy, doubting myself, questioning everything. I'm only now starting to feel better, after being 'free' for over three years. People who haven't been through it have no idea how devastating it can be to one's self-esteem and mental health. It's devastating. If you want to learn more about gaslighting, read up on narcissists. Some things may fall into place for you and provide some answers to your questions.
