A meal out with friends or family always seems like a great idea until you realize that finding a restaurant that caters to every taste and dietary requirement can pose a bit of a challenge. But , with its casual atmosphere and great selection of food options, is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

The beloved restaurant chain has been proudly serving British Columbians since 1928 and has become our reliable go-to for breakfast, lunch, dinner, take-out, and late-night snacks.

The extensive menu boasts something for everyone and showcases White Spot’s passion for using fresh, high quality, and local ingredients. But there is one item on the menu for which White Spot is arguably most famous—its delicious burgers. And while the restaurant’s signature dishes will always keep us going back for more, White Spot is giving diners a new favourite to add to their list.

That’s because, beginning Monday (April 15), guests will be able to enjoy the 100-percent plant-based Beyond Meat® patty at all of White Spot’s locations in B.C. and Alberta (excluding BC Ferries).

“Adding fresh avocados and more plant-based protein to our menu is exactly what our guests have been asking for,” says White Spot Vice President of Marketing and Menu Development, Cathy Tostenson. “We’re excited to make this possible with our spring menu and the new Avocado Beyond Burger, the latest burger to wear White Spot’s signature pickle crown.”

White Spot will be adding its signature flair to the Beyond Meat® patty by offering the new Avocado Beyond Burger™, which takes a combination of delicious ingredients and takes them to a whole new level. The four-ounce chargrilled plant-based burger is topped with fresh avocado, pickled onions, roasted corn, crisp lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes, jalapeño ranch, and edamame hummus. Guests can then choose from a selection of sides including Caesar salad, The Spot’s salad, or creamy coleslaw, in addition to “endless” local Kennebec fries. Or, as always, they can substitute fries for Zoo Sticks, poutine, onion rings, or sweet potato fries, for an additional charge.

But even if burgers aren’t your thing, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out. That’s because you can also enjoy the Beyond Meat® patty as part of White Spot’s new Southwest Power Bowl. The hearty but healthy meal comes with a vibrant mix of fresh avocado, cherry tomatoes, radish, roasted corn, and cabbage, served with quinoa and jasmine rice with greens, jalapeño ranch, and edamame hummus.

The new plant-based items increase the variety of non-meat alternatives on the White Spot menu to ensure that the ‘veto’ vote has been covered. In addition to a number of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, both the Avocado Beyond Burger™ and Southwest Power Bowl can also be made vegan with modifications. Guests can also substitute the Beyond Meat® patty in any of White Spot’s signature burgers for just $1.99. And for those with wheat allergies or sensitivities, they can opt for a gluten-free bun for only $1 or make it a lettuce wrap at no additional charge.

In a further effort to cater to guests’ differing tastes and needs, there are a number of other new items joining the fresh spring menu. The Prawn and Avocado Flatbread is served with lemon-herb prawns, garlic cream, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, feta, and avocado with jalapeño ranch dressing. Ask for it without the prawns for a vegetarian-friendly version.

For meat-lovers, the new Buttermilk Chicken Cobb Salad is well worth a try. It comes with all the trimmings of a classic Cobb—shredded iceberg lettuce, back bacon, hard-boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, cheddar, avocado, and tortilla strips—topped with crispy, buttermilk-battered B.C. chicken and jalapeño ranch.

After all, ensuring great variety, while offering exciting options for regular and new guests alike, is part of the reason why the iconic restaurant will always have a (White) Spot in our hearts.

“People often ask me how White Spot continues to grow and remain relevant after being in business for over 90 years,” says Warren Erhart, White Spot’s president. “I tell them, it’s because we’ve never taken our success for granted. We take pride in having something on our menu for everyone and our new Beyond Meat menu items are an example of how our brand continues to respond to changing demographics, taste profiles, and menu trends.”
