Bar Susu is finally heading home

Buzzy Mount Pleasant natural wine haven Bar Susu is finally moving back home.

Last summer, a fire at its 209 East 6th Avenue location caused Bar Susu to close indefinitely. The restaurant then relocated to its sister spot, Novella (2650 Main Street), where it has operated ever since.

Now news comes that Susu will be able to return to its original location—inside the former Whip, for those counting—this spring.

“We were always hopeful Bar Susu could one day return to its original space,” says Cody Allmin, co-founder of Boxset Collective, which runs Published, Susu, Novella, and more, in a statement. “After nine months of meetings, permits, and construction reviews, we’re so excited to finally make it happen.”

Bar Susu opened in 2022 and quickly became a hot spot for low-intervention wines, fun bites, and understated yet sophisticated decor.

Stay tuned for an official reopening date.

Update, April 11: Bar Susu will reopen on April 12 at 5pm.
