One of Vancouver's high-tech giants just got bigger.

Hootsuite announced today that it has bought San Francisco–based AdEspresso for an undisclosed price.

Hootsuite is known for its dashboard application for managing posts on social channels.

AdEspresso does this for Facebook advertisements.

“Social advertising has become a vital aspect of marketing; companies are looking for ways to reach an active, engaged audience while getting more mileage from content and advertising spend," Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes said in a company news release. "With AdEspresso, we’re bringing our users a simple, powerful, battle-tested solution that delivers measurable ROI.”

The chief operating officer of AdEspresso, Armando Biondi, said in the same news release that his company has "had a fantastic partnership with Hootsuite, and are thrilled to join the Hootsuite family".

In the past, there have been rumours that Facebook might one day acquire Hootsuite, but Holmes has denied that this will occur.

In 2011, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was spotted in Vancouver but the reason for his visit was never explained.
