Queer History Project Web site

Got a queer story to tell? Launched this month, Out on Screen’s Queer History Project Web site (www.queerhistoryproject.com/ ) aims to be an interactive repository of stories, photographs, and videos about Vancouver’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. The volunteer-run site invites you to share your tales from the city’s past, stating that “Queer history is often marginalized, unrecorded, forgotten or lost.” Already posted are articles that reminisce about the golden age of toilet sex in the 1970s, and recall a groundbreaking series of lectures that changed one lesbian’s life in the ’80s. Also on display are images of drag queens from 1986, and a poster for a 1993 rally against “anti-queer fascists”.
