Fit to travel

MULTITASKING FLAME
Secrets of Tulum, a Vancouver-based company that makes body products, has come up with a candle that does triple duty. The Body Wax Massage Candle has aromatherapy benefits and also liquefies after 30 minutes of burning to become a soothing massage oil. Made out of soy wax—which is high in vitamin E—and containing olive oil and shea butter to moisturize, the candles ($11) also contain essential oils like lavender or cinnamon, or a seductive combination of sweet orange, ylang-ylang, neroli, and patchouli. Plus, they come in compact, heat-safe, reusable metal containers and are biodegradable. Now there’s no excuse for your partner not to rub your back once the cabana lights are out. Available at Choices Markets (various locations).

SMOOTH SHAVE
For women on the road, shaving can be a monumental hassle; no one wants to carry a bar of slimy soap or a big bottle of lotion around in her cosmetic bag. Gillette has a new product that makes life a whole lot easier. The Venus Breeze is a two-in-one razor with built-in “shave-gel bars”. You get instant lather just by wetting the refillable razor. The gel itself is enhanced with a blend of avocado, kokum (the seed of an Indian tree), and olive body butters and has a tropical scent. Available at drugstores ($13.29).

ARRIVE REVIVED
Vancouver’s Saje Natural Wellness packs several goodies into its Natural Traveller gift set, including Arrive Revived Jet Lag & Travel Mister. Made of organically grown essential oils of eucalyptus, lemon, lavender, palmarosa, niaouli, rosemary, and peppermint, the spray is said to reduce feelings of drowsiness and sluggishness. A few drops of lavender 10-percent essential oil can be put in a warm bath or on a tissue slipped inside your pillowcase to help you get a sound sleep. The kit ($39.95) also comes with earplugs and an eyeshade, plus a healing skin ointment made with olive oil, beeswax, comfrey, goldenseal, and tea-tree oil, among other ingredients. Available at Saje (various locations).
