If transit were free maybe we'd all save a lot of money. Back in uni I researched transportation cost structures and road maintenance is astronomically expensive. Free transit has the potential to save a ton of money on road maintenance due to less wear and at the same time it might well end traffic jams. Everyone saves money, everyone saves time. Many people get healthier. Everyone wins.
