And we spend far more public $$$$ subsidizing the booze-fest than is spent in the Parks' Board's wildest dreams!

I'd rather hang with people smarter than me. Or freakier than me. Or better traveled. Or with deeper knowledge of interesting domains. Or wiser. Or more sophisticated (culturally, technologically or philosophically). Any and all of these... Learn some new shit.

Or the hipsters, the vegetarians, bicyclists, hockey (or other sports) fans, yoga nuts, hikers, campers, fisherpersons (heh, as if the fish care - dead is dead), hunters, barflies, car buffs, boaters, skiers (and other snow-obsessed types), corporate drones, the nouveau-riche, real estate owners...
Or any other "special-interest groups" considered good social company.

The scene downtown was better because the venues were spread out across downtown and people were more respectful of each other even when they were shit faced .The restaurant options were better and the cabs always took you where you wanted to go.
The bands were cool the pool halls were cool and the general vibe was always relaxed and fun.
Now not so much haven't been on Granville in years.

Barflies, car buffs, boaters, hikers etc. Are everywhere....don’t know where you are going to move.
Snow hut up North? oh right, nothing to do with snow either. Jeesh.

Those are your options? Granville drunks or useless stoners?

Never once saw a brawl involving a bunch of stoners.
