How do I get over the small stuff?

As a child and now an adult, I've always had an emotional reaction when things don't go the way I planned. I get mad easily when I put a lot of expectation and planning into something and in the end I miss this event, or accidentally forget or it doesn't go the way it was supposed to go. I am so hard on myself and get mad at people around me. Instead of saying "oh well, move on" I physically feel frustrated and feel like I wanna cry, and I let it bother me for the rest of the day. How do I let things go to be a healthy person? All this worrying and difficulty letting go gives me stress and I make it ruin my day. I am aware but I can't help my physical and emotional reaction. The best word to describe it is desperate frustration.

Would you tell a friend that mistakes should require hours of hate and fury, or that if you tried your best and forgot, that you should shake it off?

Part of the problem is that maybe you are not organized and that this happens to you more than is quite right.

But a lot of it is that you are just tense. Do you like yourself? Are you comfortable? Do you feel that you have to prove everything to everyone especially yourself and that one fuck up is going to destroy your image?

Think about who you are now, not where you came from. You're not that kid. You are a grown ass human being who can deal.

It helps to know that. Remind yourself occasionally.

And develop a good baseline of confidence by actually being pretty fit. All the oxygen and bloodflow does wonders for mood.

You have major control issues that stem from childhood. Consider therapy- it might help:)

It's just mindfulness. Learn meditation. Learn to chill and not take things too seriously. Life is short, there are more important things. Anger, stress, etc. are bad for your health. You can learn to to be more relax. The first step is self-awareness, which you seem to have. Next, it takes practice. With some time, it will become easier.
