Laid off

Got laid off two weeks. Job hunting right now.
I have an employment who is fighting my termination. Company was so cheap. People were so really stuck up.
Any advice in getting contract work..thinking of being a consultant while looking for a real job? Someone said meetups are good. Do they really work? Getting mixed advice.

You can try the gig economy to pay your bills until your consulting business off the ground. Delivering food with those apps can make you some money or being a bike courier. Going on Craigslist and finding work. In construction you can do labor work for $20/hour.
