Customer service

“We appreciate your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your concern. If that’s what you took away, that’s not what was intended. Your feedback is important to us.” Seriously do these customer service reps memorize lines off cue cards at their in-service training?

someone else writes the lines they recite. The one line people think they invented is 'don't ask me to think'.

Yeah, of course. They're trained to do the job.

They could tell you what they really think of you and what is almost surely your petty little whine.

Yes, they are most usually following a script, and being recorded for legal reasons.

Yes, and if I don't repeat those lines as they were written, I get reprimanded. My boss is listening within earshot. Your customer service rep is not allowed to be a human. That's policy.

They have a script that they have to stick to. Going off-script and accidentally saying the wrong thing can open the company up to all sorts of liabilities. Have you never had a job before?
