I've just learned that my hearing loss is a tad over the municipal policing and RCMP basic requirements. There goes that dream.

Why would you want to assume a role of position and power over another human being? I have no delusions that society needs some policing but I'm always shocked to learn that people want to do it. It's not a role of leadership you know? It's a role of authority.

... so-called "fitness requirements" are all unconstitutional, unless RCMP is just a military organization masquerading as a police force.
The fitness standards are used to make sure the police force isn't diverse.
None of these standards have ever been checked for Charter compliance, you could complain to the BC HUman Rights Tribunal, their requirements are going to be very irrational, and it's discriminatory of someone with a disability cannot be a constable. The idea that police work is only for "superheroes" is disgusting.
Oh, the irony...

Dad used to work for municipal (not here). The head of HR confided that when they hired for law enforcement, they screened for aggressive psychopathologies... And hired them.
And I know of at least one very, very zap-happy (as in Taser) officer with a dire reputation, who is still on the force after years of "incidents". Including zapping a cardiac patient I know personally.
All of which suggests that this is not an exception... it's policy. (Policey?)
The Polizei are not known for their listening skills. More for their SWATty ways, selective hearing, and even more selective memory. It's gotten bad enough that entire departments have to work with body cams on all the time. Adult supervision required, to avoid repeats of Ferguson, etc.
So this post is profoundly funny.
Phew!
