It took 50 years for me to find out there is a name for this?! I hate hot blue sunny days, and rainy days make me so happy and grounded.

I've always wondered if it's because a person is born in a region that has a grey rainy climate, that plays a role in their preference when it comes to climate? If you were born in Hawaii, would you go nuts in Vancouver come winter?

but without the cold.
So from mid Spring to mid-autumn yes, but otherwise I'd like to be south of the equator the rest of the year.

Wonder no more! Your theory has been disproven by me, an internet stranger born in sunny Alberta (even when cold as hell the sun still comes out) and lived there for 30+ years who definitely prefers west coast weather and is giddy when it rains. I love it that everyone here disappears inside when it rains (the only time the seawall is tolerable) and have heard actual born-here Vancouverites complain about their gardens being “too lush”. Also funny to see people plug in their cars in the winter here (whyyyyyy?) and hear complaints about the cold “but it’s a damp cold so it’s different”. Sure. If that’s what you believe, ok. Who am I to judge your Religion of Whine.

Alberta's a cesspit, of course Vancouver's a big step up for you. I was considering people from normal places.

@@anonymous. Those from such places like Alberta, or the small town BC always praise Vancouver. They become the cities #1 booster squad that even have themselves convinced the rain is great. They're are places in the world that aren't blanketed in snow for nine months or rain for seven months but when you're from a provincial backwater, Vancouver is Paris of North America. I've never met so many fight so hard to live in this city. It's one of life's mysteries why people pay first tier prices to live in a lower tier city. You people are delusional.

Me tooo!! The sun gives me migraines and I can't bear to be even a little hot and uncomfortable. This is coming from someone born in a country with temperatures going up to 50! Love the rain and all the over cast days. It also makes me a little sad that everyone is allowed to jump for joy when it's sunny but we get frowns and scowls when appreciating the rain and over cast days. Loll!

sheesh. I only meant that it’s sunny on the prairies compared with Vancouver. Canada is filled with weird, regionalist folks who hate other places in Canada based on stereotypes. Go elsewhere in Canada, no one thinks Vancouver is Paris (hahaha wut). Provincial backwater? It’s so odd to mock someone because of where they were born.

Vancouver is full of some seriously sad and depressed people.

Someone is depressed because they like rain? You don’t make any sense.
