Grew up on the West Side

in the 80’s and 90’s and it was a shit show. Parents who would do literally anything to help their kids get ‘ahead,’ even buying their way into local choirs, theatre groups and sports teams. Buying their kids houses and fancy cars. Spreading rumours and trying to sabotage the kids who were the most naturally gifted. Honestly, my adolescence in Vancouver makes the College Admissions Scandal look like utter child’s play!

They probably bought them their jobs too, judging by the entitled, arrogant, useless people I've had to work with here.
Me too!

Jesus, it was the complete opposite in East Van. Kids were feral and left to their devices by parents who were never qualified to have children. I'm not projecting, it was crazy. The stories I could tell make you weep. The only good it spawned was the music scenes. It takes something wild to give a scene like that it's authenticity and frankly speaking, the bands Vancouver produced are the only thing this city has contributed to culture internationally. No one from the West Side has contributed to anything significant to put Vancouver
on the map. The Olympics were pretty much forgotten weeks after they were over by the world, and Lululemon is just a brand worn by slaves who will buy what there told.
As usual, it's the creative class who almost always have hard disadvantaged lives who give what little soul Vancouver has left and occasionally the world notices. Google bands from Vancouver.
Total shark tank.

Vancouver is a small time bush league place that wishes it was important.

Small thinking to define yourself by geography or even nationality or race. We are one multi-coloured race. Not the horse race, not the dog or rat race; but one family. The wiener kid generation has no idea what a scandal is anymore. We all knew college admission was bought out by rich people forever. Now it is a scandal because politicians are desperate to appease an angrier and angrier populace (some of it being legitimate and the other half being wiener kids whining and wanting a super Cushy and East life)
Old Money

Vancouver is full of old wealth and my family is a great example. The ones who fell through the cracks have been shunned. It’s disgusting.
I honestly thought...

The college Admissions Scandal was just the way it worked with big money. I never, ever would have thought it would be considered illegal, it’s been happening forever.
